Liver Tonic formula is designed to support a healthy liver and gall bladder function and to improve digestion. Signs of sluggish liver may not be so obvious as other diseases, but it may appear as symptoms of nausea, indigestion, bloating, flatulence, intolerance to fatty food and food intolerance. For some people, signs of sluggish liver can be as vague as one feeling unrefreshed in the morning, being constipated, experiencing skin troubles (acne, eczema, itchy skin)/ headache/ migraine/ premenstrual syndrome, and feeling constantly tired. Maintaining an optimal liver function is directly related to your general health and vitality as it is involved in almost every activity of your body system. Almost every single chemicals, either from drugs, industrial chemicals or food intakes, and metabolites of food, has to go through its detoxification process in the liver before they leave our body. In TCM, the liver was thought to affect the mood and its suboptimal function appear as signs of a burst of anger and feeling irritable.

Many of hepatoprotective herbs are naturally antioxidant, able to fight the oxidative stress as they work to support liver’s detoxification process. St Mary’s Thistle and Dandelion are the two most important liver herbs we use in Western Herbal Medicine. Historically they were used to treat any conditions related to liver and gall bladder such as jaundice, fatigue, bloating, flatulence, indigestion, fatigue and toxic condition of the body.

*Herbs included: Taraxacum officinale (Taraxacum officinale), Globe Artichoke (Cynara scolymus), Schisandra berry (Schisandra chinensis), St. Mary’s Thistle (Silybum marianum), Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), Peppermint (Mentha x piperita), Burdock root (Arctium lappa)

*Recommended Dosage:

Adults: 7.5ml twice daily

Children (5-10yr): 2.5ml twice daily

Children (11-16yr): 5ml twice daily

Sensitive individuals are recommended to start 1/2 of the recommended dosage and slowly increase the dosage over 2 weeks until you are at the recommended dosage.

*Cautions

-Do not take Herbal Formula if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

-5ml of Herbal Formula contains ALCOHOL that is equivalent to 1/6 of a standard glass of beer. The human liver is conditioned to metabolise a small amount of alcohol. However, if you have a LIVER problem or has a history of alcohol dependence, speak to your health practitioner before use.

-Discontinue the Herbal Formula if you experience any abnormal symptoms eg. heart palpitation, diarrhoea, stomach ache and/or skin rash. Contact the herbalist for further instructions.

-If you are taking pharmaceutical drugs, you must speak to herbalist or personal health practitioner to avoid herb/drug interactions.

-If you are using this formula for constipation, take it for 6 weeks and stop drinking it for 2-3 weeks before starting again as it contains laxative herbs which may cause an electrolyte loss.

-It is important to speak to a professional health practitioner if you have any symptoms or signs of abdominal pain, haemorrhoids, rectal bleeding or blood in the stool as it may be a sign of a serious health concern.

-If you have any diagnosed liver disorder, speak to your personal health practitioner before taking this formula.
